Callan Solem Show Stables Scores Awarded Top Prizes at Spring Horse Shows

Chester Springs, PA – May 18, 2010 – Over the past two weeks, Callan Solem Show Stables has successfully competed at two spring horse shows. First, they traveled to the Garden State Horse Show from May 5-9, 2010, in Augusta, New Jersey, and the following week Solem’s students exhibited at the St Christopher's Horse Show, May 12-16, 2010, at the Quentin Riding Club in Quentin, Pennsylvania. Solem and her talented group of students earned multiple championship and reserve championship awards for their performances. Callan Solem Show Stables is a hunter/jumper/equitation operation based in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, with international grand prix rider Callan Solem

During the Garden State Horse Show, Solem competed successfully in both the hunter and jumper rings. On Thursday, she showed VDL Torlando in the $25,000 Ted Grant Welcome Stake Grand Prix and the pair registered two clear rounds. Earlier in the week she competed with Walk On, owned by Elle Turner, in the Garden State Hunter division. Solem and Walk On were on their game as they garnered the championship ribbon.

Solem was also victorious with High Consul, owned by Virginia McNeil, in the Pre-Green Hunter division. The pair earned two first place ribbons, two second place ribbons, and a third placing. Solem’s success with the talented mount would eventually earn them the championship tricolor.

“I am very proud of High Consul because he gets better at every show,” noted Solem. “He’s really going to make a nice horse for somebody. He has become so much fun and he has been very consistent in the ring.”

Callen Solem Show Stables also traveled to the St Christopher's Horse Show with assistant trainer Martha Redman. Rose Borzillo had a very successful competition with Flying Dutchman in the Children’s Jumper division. The pair had the fast double clear round in a competitive three-horse jump-off during the 1.15m NAL/WIHS Children’s Jumper Classic. The pair’s efforts also earned them the Children’s Jumper championship title.

“They definitely clicked right away,” said Solem. “He really likes her and I think she is getting more comfortable on him and becoming more willing to take a few chances in the jump-off. Those qualities make them a winning pair.”

Callan Solem Show Stables will be traveling to the Blue Rock Horse Show later this week where they hope to continue their success. The exciting competition will be held May 19-23, 2010, in Quentin, Pennsylvania.
